This person is hired by the insurance company to inspect the claim on their behalf and ultimately determine how much the insurance company will pay the insured. Now days a growing number of insurance carriers are streamlining this process by sending unqualified inspectors to perform the job of a licensed adjuster. These inspectors report back to what is called a desk adjuster, which will then determine the value of the loss without ever visiting the property. This results in under evaluating the damages and under paying the homeowner. Sometimes this results in a claim being totally denied and the claim is closed and payment denied.
